BTS and TWICE named among the most loved K-pop idols for first half of 2018

Boy band BTS and girl group TWICE nabbed the top two places in a survey of the most loved K-pop idols, Korean actors and dramas in the first half of 2018.

Online survey company PMI conducted a survey among 5,000 Korean men and women ranging from 20s to 50s on the survey platform Tillion, asking their favourites for the first six months of the year.

In the best K-pop idol category, BTS garnered first place with 38.5%.

Their new album Love Yourself: Tear charted on Billboard 200 for the ninth consecutive week, while their music video Blood Sweat & Tears was chosen as one of the greatest music videos in the 21st century by Billboard.

Nine-member group TWICE came in second with 23.5%. The girls released the album What is Love? in April and reissued it as Summer Nights this month.

Black Pink came third with 18.1% followed by Mamamoo with 17.8%, Wanna One with 14.3% and Red Velvet with 13.6%.

Among Korean actors, Park Seo-joon was voted No. 1 with 29.1%. The actor was reported today to be dating Park Min-young, his co-star in the drama What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, which aired its last episode on 26 July. They denied the rumour.

Placing second is Jung Hae-in (20.3%) who rose to fame with the drama Something in the Rain, which aired from March to May this year. Third is Jo Jin-woong with 13.1%.

Son Ye Jin topped the favorite Korean actress category with 25.6%. She was the co-star of Jung Hae-in in Something in the Rain. Jung Yu-mi is second while Kim Nam-joo is third.

The top 5 favorite Korean dramas for the first half of the year are: Prison Playbook, 23.7%; Something in the Rain, 21.7%; What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, 20.7%; My Golden Life, 18.5%; and My Ahjussi, 17.3%.
