Would you and your friends consider yourselves “real people” with “tough faces”? Then you just might have what it takes to appear in Mark Wahlberg’s new movie.

Boston Casting is hosting an open casting call for a Wahlberg film, to be shot in the Boston area, this Saturday at its Allston offices. The company is looking for “construction workers, blue collar workers, DP W workers, fishermen, mob guys, etc.” Casting directors are hoping to fill speaking roles and to hire extras.

If you’re tempted to audition, be prepared for some competition. As of Monday afternoon, Boston Casting’s Facebook post announcing the casting call had been shared more than 9,600 times.

While the casting notice doesn’t mention what movie people will be auditioning for, one likely possibility is “Wonderland,” a recently announced collaboration between Wahlberg, director Peter Berg (“Patriots Day,” “Deepwater Horizon,” “Lone Survivor”), and Netflix. “Wonderland” will star Wahlberg as Spenser, a wisecracking Boston private investigator who is the protagonist of the late Robert B. Parker’s series of detective novels, the 1980s ABC show “Spenser: For Hire,” and several TV movies.

Casting directors will be on the hunt for tough guys only at Saturday’s auditions. However, subsequent open calls will be scheduled next month for a broader range of extras.

Anyone hoping to audition this weekend should take a current headshot to the casting call and visit for information.
