Enigma, phenomenon, 'Badshah', superstar are often used as synonyms for Shah Rukh Khan. With an estimated net-worth of Rs 436,170 crores listed on Forbes, SRK - as he is popularly known - rules the roost in the big, bad world of Bollywo od.
In his own words, the megastar believes, success and failure are both part of life. Both are not permanent. Living life on this principle, Khan has managed to create an empire that is larger than life.
Apart from earning mega bucks from his films and multiple brand endorsements - he earned approximately Rs 276,659 crores in 2017 - Khan has been able to set the cash registers ringing with his three super-successful business ventures.
He has channeled his moolah into avenues like, film production & distribution company Red Chillies Entertainment, post-production and visual effects unit Red Chillies VFX, a cricket team named Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, and stakes in a Mexican chain of family, entertainment centres KidZania.
The Dream Merchant
SRK started his own production house Dreamz Unlimited in 2002 and the first movie produced under this banner was 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani'. However, the movie did not manage to do much at the box office. That did not deter Khan from producing the second movie which was 'Asoka'. This film also failed at the box office but managed to win a Filmfare award and two IIFA awards. Khan decided to risk it again and undertook producing 'Chalte Chalte' also under the same banner and faced failure again.

The actor and his wife Gauri Khan then decided to rechristen the company as Red Chillies Entertainment, and has since then produced a slew of successful films under the banner. The first film produced under the new company was the Farah Khan directed 'Main Hoon Na' which did not just do well, but went on to become the second-highest grossing film of the year.
He went on to dabble in a strin g of different businesses and is now the owner, financier, and face of his brand, Red Chillies Entertainment.
The Guru Of Special Effects
While we all know that SRK is hungry for more, he is also one of the few in Bollywood who has the ability to spot trends. Keeping that in mind, he decided to expand his production house and diversify in providing state-of-the-art special effects for films and thus Red Chillies VFX came into being. It has now turned out to one of the leading names in VFX in the country. Movies like 'Krishh', 'Ra.One', came out of the Red Chillies VFX Studio, with the latter going on to win all major film awards, including the National Award for its spectacular visual effects.
The True Sportsman
It is a well-known fact that SRK is a sports enthusiast and is an avid footballer. His keen interest in sports made him purchase a franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had been in the limel ight right from the day it came into existence.
However, it did not manage to perform well right from the start. Not one to admit failure well, the superstar was determined to bring the best cricketing talent on-board. And, it is now for everyone to see how KKR has transformed into one of the most popular and successful IPL teams and has also tuned out to be one of the most profitable investments made by Khan.
Parenting 101
The doting father to three beautiful children, SRK understands the edutainment space like no other.
To fill the existing void in that space in the Indian market, Khan brought to the country the first-ever children's theme park, KidZania. KidZania is originally a Mexican edutainment chain for children. Considering Khan has traveled across the length and breadth of the globe, he knew that this novel concept would be an instant hit here.
But, King Khan is not the only one with business acumen in the family. Gauri Khan is not just a partner with her husband in the production house, she also runs a successful interior decoration venture. She started the business along with her partner Suzanne Khan. Last year she also launched her own store, Gauri Khan Designs which is the name behind some of Bollywood's good-looking pads.
It is SRK's sheer passion, relentless hard work, intelligence, thirst for knowledge, dedication and commitment as to why he has emerged as a real superstar of the entrepreneurial world as well.
